Female Malayalam Script Writer Accuses VK Prakash Of Forcing Himself On Her, Bribing Her To Stay Quiet; Says, ‘Admired His Films, Never Expected Him To Behave This Way’
VK Prakash has been accused of sexual misconduct by a female script writer, who is now opening up about her experience after the the Hema Committee Report surfaced the internet
The #MeToo movement of the Malayalam entertainment industry has been gaining a lot of attention. Ever since the Hema Committee Report, which details the sexual harassment women face in the Malayalam film industry has surfaced on the internet, many actress have opened up about their sexual harassment experiences. Now, a young female sript writer has accused actor-director VK Prakash of not only misbehaving with her but also bribing her to stay quite and not ruin his reputation.
As reported by the Free Press Journal, she spoke to Mathrubhumi about her experience with the actor-director. The incident happened in 2022, when she had pitched her story to him, so they he could direct it. She stated that he had shown enthusiasm toward the project and agreed to meet her so that they could discuss it further. She added, “I had told him many times that I could send him the story and continue the discussion only if he was interested.”
The anonymous script writer said that after he had suggested they meet in person to go over the script in detail, she had expressed her concern of traveling from Kochi to Kollam. He dismissed her worries by telling her that he will be going out of town and asked her to meet him as soon as possible. Sharing details of the horrific incident, she said that VK Prakash had booked a room for them at a hotel in Kollam. It was suring the storytelling that he interrupted and offered her drinks. He proceeded to ask her if she was interested in acting.
When she turned down the acting role and insisted on being a script writer, he reportedly read a scene and asked her to perform it for him. When she refused to do so, he pushed her on to the bed and allegedly tried to kiss her. She resisted his advances and cleared the air stating that she was only there to talk to him about her script. She went on to add that he left her room and went to his own room. She left for Kochi 15 later. It was the next morning when he reached out to her again where he asked her not to damage his reputation and sent her Rs 10,000 as her travel expenses.
She added, “I did not confide in any friends and was afraid to file an official complaint. Now, I feel confident as Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has promised protection and support to women who have faced such experiences while pursuing their dreams. I had admired his films and never expected him to behave this way. What I have said is true, and I stand by it. I have already lodged a complaint with the special investigation team.”
